My passion in life is to help others with various difficulties they are facing in life. I earned a Master's degree in Social Work from Salisbury University and I am a licensed social worker (LMSW) in Maryland. In fact, that is why I went back to school for my Social Work degree after 20+ years in the field of accounting!

I strongly believe in approaching life from the perspectives of "one day at a time" and striving for acceptance of whatever life throws our way. My deep sense of empathy enables me to "put myself in another person's shoes" and thoroughly identify with my clients' struggles and difficult feelings they are experiencing. I have extensive experience in the areas of addiction/recovery and neurodiversity (or neurospicyness as some like to say! ☺️).

My greatest strength may be my ability to actively listen to my clients, without interrupting them, while they express whatever is on their mind. My approach tends to be warm, reflective, and person-centered, allowing my clients to explore their feelings, find meaning in their experiences, and move toward healing. I strive to provide an atmosphere of friendliness, openness, and acceptance so my clients feel comfortable talking about absolutely anything that is bothering them. I am happy to offer a safe space for people of all identities and I proudly identify myself as a 2SLGBTQIA+ ally 🏳️‍🌈.

I have extensive experience working with people of all ages, with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and experiencing different mental health challenges. I have worked with youth (ages 5-17) from traditionally under-served minority and lower socioeconomic communities experiencing mental health challenges and I have worked in hospital-based crisis-intervention services. I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques (CBT) such as analyzing cognitive distortions that are creating distress for my clients. I also am very enthusiastic about Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) including the modalities of deep-breathing techniques and mindfulness/meditation to help my clients learn how to regulate their emotions.

I am currently accepting new clients via telehealth!  Contact us now.
